Art Docent Program
about us volunteer coordinators

Home is where the art is

Volunteers participating in the Art Docent program are trained in a standards-based curriculum focused on sequential learning that takes children on an artistic journey from drawing basic shapes in kindergarten to rendering still-life paintings of fruit in the fourth grade and detailed black-and-white pencil drawings the next year. Not only do the children benefit from a high-quality arts education at little cost to the school, but relatives get to spend time in the classroom and learn a few things about how to express themselves creatively, as well.

The curriculum not only teaches volunteers how to teach and create art, but also what to expect from students at each grade level in terms of skill and attentiveness.
